Operator Training On Paving Machines

Finnpave are able to offer a one-day training course. This is carried out by one of our most experienced members of staff who is also an approved instructor and has carried out training for the CITB on numerous occasions.

The course offers instruction on the operation of the machine, the principles of laying tarmac, and also details the safety aspects of operating a paving machine.

On successful completion an operator competency card will be awarded confirming that on the day of training the attendee was competent at operating paving machines and showed a good understanding of all other aspects covered in the training session. Each attendee will also receive a free coffee mug and hat.

Location

This course can be carried out at the Finnpave facility in Cambridgeshire, or, alternatively at your choice of location. A Bitelli or Caterpillar paver will be required for the practical element of this course and an office or room with power and lighting will be required for the theory session which includes an interactive DVD with question and answer sections. Please be aware that material is not laid during this training course and therefore, Finnpave are unable to assess a candidates ability within a surfacing operation.

On The Day Of Training

On the day of training we ask that all trainees bring with them, 2 passport sized photos and a photocopy of their driving license or another form of formal identification such as a copy of their passport. They will be asked to fill in an application form and will be required to sign a register to confirm attendance.

When training has been completed, we will forward applications to our card provider for approval and for competency cards to be issued. Our card provider requires us to submit proof of identification for each candidate and they will not be issued without this.

Minimum Ages

• To operate a Paver on site operators must be at least 18.
• To operate a Paver on the public highway operators must be 21, and have a full valid driving licence.
• With this in mind we ask that all trainees are at least 18 on the day of training.
